Julia Bajzek speaks about her family background in Austria, the family living with her grandmother in a little valley; her mother working at a variety of jobs; her schooling, singing being part of the curriculum; of remembering having to hide in bunkers during the bomb raids (WWII); Austrian Christmas traditions & decorations; St Nicholas Day celebrated on the 6th December; grandmother's folk songs; Austrian Christmas & Easter traditions continued in Australia; Austrian language; convent school education; leaving school, learning to cook & working in a kitchen; completing a hotel management course in Austria; marriage & starting a family; family migrating to Australia, arriving by Qantas in 1969; early days in Australia; Bonegilla Migrant Camp (Vic.); Fishermen's Bend Camp(Vic.); relocation to Heidelburg, Vic.; working in the Austrian Club (Heidelburg); how her children learnt folk dancing & singing.

Julia talks about singing for 23 years & the Austrian Choir's organization. Dieter Bajzek talks about folk revival, the change in focus on writing music/lyrics in dialects; folk music with contemporary influence using dialects & not high German.
