Chandler (later Hocking) speaks about being removed from her mother at the age of 18 months. She was made a State ward and placed in a succession of foster homes. She describes her extremely difficult childhood. Her mother tried unsuccessfully to have her daughter returned to her care, and the two were not reunited until 1980 just before her mother's death. Chandler is currently a Tasmanian representative on the National Sorry Day Committee.
