|aMajor General William Stewart (1769-1854) arrived in Australia in 1825 and in 1833 moved with his family to Bathurst and took over the Mount Pleasant estate, one of the best known properties in N.S.W. His son, James Horne Stewart, continued to manage the property. Lillian Stewart, a daughter of J.H. Stewart married Dr. Sydney Jamieson and their son, Stewart Jamieson (1903-1975) was a senior Australian diplomat of the 1950s and 1960s. |
