Biography/History Barry Humphries born in 1934 in Melbourne, multi-talented actor whose stage career began in 1952. Invented many satiric characters the most famous being Dame Edna Everage and Sir Les Paterson, debuted in 1955, 1974 respectively. Since 1960 Humphries' career has alternated between England, Australia and the USA giving solo shows. His autobiography More Please (1992) won him the J.R. Ackerly Prize 1993. He has won various awards for comedy as a TV personality. He was given an Order of Australia in 1982.
