Quist, former international tennis player, speaks about playing in the Australian Davis Cup team from 1933 to 1948, including the winning team in 1939; serving in the Army during World War II; the prisoner-of-war camp at Cowra; his introduction to tennis by Patsy Hendren; his family background; the current lack of top class Australian tennis players; changes in tennis equipment, rules, clothing and court surfaces; Sir Norman Brookes; the declining importance of Davis Cup; training requirements; his doubles partner, John Bromwich and their successes; the change from amatuerism to open competition; and the possible consequences of the enormous financial rewards in modern tennis.
