The collection consists of recordings and paper based records relating to folk-songs, folk music, customs and beliefs, yarns, folk poetry, games, riddles and reminiscences.
Warren Fahey formed the Australian Folklore Unit in 1970 in an attempt to establish a professional approach to the collection and research of Australian folklore. Warren Fahey travelled the eastern states of Australia for ten months in 1972 and 1973 recording all aspects of Australian traditional and contemporary folklore.
Preservation, working duplicate and cassette copies made of selected reels.
