Masters talks about her family background; frequent changes of address due to father's work and first job in government Cool Stores at Victoria Dock about 1927. She then describes her work as a bookkeeper for a money lender; training and employment as a mothercraft nurse for about 10 years followed by work with the GPO (Government Post Office) as a mail sorter. Masters then talks about the political activity of the Australian Postal Workers Union and her subsequent employment with Telecom; Bureau of Statistics and Repatriation Dept. She then discusses her involvement with political organisations; Charlie Mutton and Doris Blackburn; formation of Socialist Labour Party and its disbandment about 1954; membership of Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Mooroolbark Development Association and Torquay Improvement Association.
