Shegog was born 1929 at Launceston, Tasmania. He recalls his father's background, having worked on Flinders Island where he met Ron's mother; memories of Flinders Island - going to dances with a candle and dipper (cup); musical parents who played for dances; types of dances; community at Flinders Island; performing plays at school; leaving Flinders Island; coming to Tasmania; working in a hosiery factory - Cotton Mills - telegram boy; working 'the boots' (general labourer at the pub); working in the sawmills - wage received - working at Comalco; getting married - number of children from the 2 marriages. MUSIC: music in the family; names of some tunes; learning to play a 4 string guitar; going to dances - singing songs as a family group; talks about his brother Kevin; singing / playing as a family.
