A comprehensive collection of administrative records of the National Florence Nightingale Committee, including correspondence, financial information, minutes, reports, conference proceedings, newsletters and press cuttings, together with papers relating to the Florence Nightingale National Scholarship and Florence Nightingale Oration. Also documented is the Committee's association with the Royal Australian Nursing Federation and the Federation's working party, the National Steering Committee and Task Forces for Implementing "Goals in Nursing Education".

Biography/History The National Florence Nightingale Committee was created in 1946, at a conference in Melbourne attended by members of various state Florence Nightingale Committees which had been established prior to World War II. The Committee fostered post graduate nursing education in Australia until the early 1990s when it was dissolved and its assets formed into a trust, administered by the Royal College of Nursing.
