Letter diary written by Asmus to his parents, brother and sisters, on a voyage to China on board the S.S. "Taiyuan". They described his experience during the voyage, places he visited including Celebes, North Borneo, Shanghai, Nanking Hsuchowfu and Peng Pu. Addition of 11-9-2000 includes postcard, menus, newspaper supplements and invitation to opening of Parliament House, Canberra, 1927.

Photographer. Asmus worked for the British Railways before joining the British Tobacco Company in 1923. He travelled to China in 1918.
