Former Senator George Branson speaks of his family background and of the various jobs held during his youth; joining the militia, then the AIF; buying and running his farm after the war; the beginnings of his political career; preselection of 1955 and 1958. Topics covered from during his political career include: Entering parliament; his achievements; his views on Party committees; the relationship between the Party and parliamentarians; he speaks of Menzies, Gorton and Holt and various other politicians; he describes the difficulties involved in dealing with issues and problems related to a large state such as Western Australia; the Vietnam War; various committees he has served on; his trip to the U.N (1968); his retirement and adjustment to private life; he gives his views on a range of issues.
