  • Paddy McGinnity's goat (schottische tune). Jack Wright talks about the origins of the song 'Garrawilla'
  • then sings, 'Garrawilla'. Wright talks about the song, 'Sixteen thousand miles from home' and the difficulties experienced by early Irish settlers in Australia
  • then sings, 'Sixteen thousand miles from home. Wright talks about, 'Fol the diddle di do', a cook who worked at the Liverpool Plains; the origins of the song 'The fish', then sings 'The fish'. Wright explains the term 'masher'; then sings 'The masher'. Muriel Whalan sings: Jambaroora gold (fragment)
  • Harry Dale the drover (The ballad of the drover)
  • Pommy's lament. Whalan talks about the song 'Sergeant Small', set in the days of the Great Depression. Sergeant Small arrested individuals 'jumping the rattler', that is boarding trains without having paid the fare. Whalan sings: Sergeant Small (fragment)
  • The billy boils over. Bill McGinness sings: The wild colonial boy.

Recorded at Coogee and Mudgee, N.S.W. in 1959 (date unknown) and Katoomba, N.S.W. on Apr. 16 and Bathhurst, N.S.W. on Apr. 17, 1959.
