Correspondence, technical papers, laboratory research papers, patient records, photographs, certificates, newspaper cuttings, printed material, legal case papers & manuscript drafts. The papers document the development of McBride's career, the establishment of Foundation 41, & his research into various drugs including Thalidomide, Bendectin (Debendox), Scopolamine & oral contraceptives. There are papers relating to the allegations of scientific fraud made against McBride in 1987, & subsequent investigations by the Foundation 41 Committee of Inquiry (1988) & the New South Wales Medical Tribunal (1989-93). There are also drafts of & research material relating to McBride's autobiography Killing the messenger. McBride corresponded with medical practitioners & researchers, Foundation 41 staff, solicitors, patients & friends.

- Biography/History:

Obstetrician, gynaecologist and medical researcher. Attributed with first naming Thalidomide as a cause of birth defects in 1961. Established medical research organisation Foundation 41 in 1972. Investigated by the New South Wales Medical Tribunal 1989-93. Struck from the Register of Medical Practitioners in 1993, reinstated in 1998.
