Professor Rhondda Jones, zoologist, talks about her family background; schooling and her interest in science and her decision to become a scientist. She then discusses her undergraduate degree at the University of Western Australia with a major in zoology; PhD work on midges; working with CSIRO in Canberra for a year followed by time spent at the Entomology Dept at the University of California researching the pests of cotton. In 1977 Jones returned to Australia and joined the Dept of Zoology at James Cook University. She then discusses her study of butterflies; biological inventory; views on the conservation of Great Barrier Reef; creationism and evolution; career prospects in science and women in the sciences. Jones then discusses her work on various committees and her career achievements.
