Williams recalls growing up in Yass as a theatre struck schoolboy & its eventual affects on his life & personality; the influence of Canberra Theatre and particularly Canberra Repertory on his career; his move to Sydney and gaining a position with the Independent Theatre as an assistant director; the demise of the Independent Theatre; his acting career in television; how he got started as a producer & director in Sydney; setting up his production company in 1976; studying for 3 months in New York and give his comments on theatre etiquette and economics.

Williams, born in Yass (NSW) in 1944 speaks of his work with the Yass Repertory Society until he moved to Sydney in 1971 to work at the Independent Theatre & Australian Theatre, as well as on radio & television. He started a production company based at the Bondi Pavilion Theatre which produced and toured a number of successful productions. In 1979 Williams recreated the Phillip Street Theatre which he continued to run until 1986. During this time he also established The Peter Williams School of Dramatic Art. In 1987 he moved to French's Forrest to run the Glen Street Theatre. He began using the Playhouse Theatre of the Sydney Opera House for his productions in 1990's. Many of his productions toured nationally. Williams then went on to establish The Mogambo Theatre restaurant at the Gold Coast.
