Redshaw, a prominent doctor interested in community issues, talks about family background; father's influence on childhood; decision to become a doctor; work during WWII in Sydney & in England just after the war; attachment to Sydney Hospital; return to Australia & establishment of a practice at Nabiac, N.S.W. She then talks about her membership of various organisations including President of western Pacific region of International Medical Women's Association; Commissioner in Planning Environment Commission for 6 years; involvement with Public Education Program of the Alcohol Committee of the Manning River District Hospital & 12 years on council of Australian Medical Association. Redshaw discusses her attitude towards patients& medicine; Australian Medical Association; China's "one child" policy; situation of women in 3rd world countries & discrimination against women in many areas of medicine. She describes the work done by International Council for Prevention of Alcoholics of which she is a member & gives her views on changes seen in medical practice.
