Major-General Paul Cullen, talks about his family background; childhood; military career; fighting experiences in the Middle East and New Guinea during WWII; initiatives undertaken as Major-General including establishment of an officer cadet training unit for reserve soldiers known as Special Conditions Units. He then talks about his interest in farming and various properties owned; formation of first fixed trust company in Australia; involvement with Edward Lumley and Sons, Security and General Merchants Ltd and his establishment of Vanguard Insurance Company, formation of Australian Manning Services Pty Ltd., directorship of Paul and Grey Ltd and involvement with family company David Cohen and Co. and his part in the formation of Australia's first merchant bank, Mainguard and his directorship of Industrial Steels Ltd. Cullen describes his family's long standing involvement in the Jewish community and his involvement in the Liberal-Jewish Movement and Australian Jewish Welfare Society.
Cullen then goes on to talk about the government organisations and charities that he has been involved with , including the Royal Blind Society, League of Nations Union, Austcare, Australian Council for Overseas Aid and the formation of Australian Overseas Disaster Response Organisation and the overseas aid program of the Cumberland College of Health Sciences
