Biography/History

Adeline Genée came to Australia in 1913 with the Imperial Russian Ballet, and was the first classical ballerina to visit Australia (10 years before Pavlova). This photograph is believed to have been taken in America during her U.S. tour.

Notes

Genée choreographed La Camargo in 1912 and it was presented at the Coliseum, London. The costume is a copy of that in the painting 'Mademoiselle de Camargo dancing' by Nicolas Lanciet, 1730.
