Hall speaks about training as a manual arts teacher at Sydney Teachers College, the discrimination towards Aboriginal students he witnessed during his first teaching placement at Wellington, N.S.W. in 1954, and the poor living conditions of orphans at Fairbridge Farm, Molong. He later taught at Willoughby Girls School, which was attended by Aboriginal girls from Greenwich Home, before he joined the Commonwealth Education Department in the 1970s. Hall speaks about efforts to improve the school retention rates for Aboriginal children, the role of teachers in removing Aboriginal children from their parents, and the general ignorance of teachers about Aboriginal educational needs. He then worked with the Aboriginal Development Commission to train Aboriginal project officers involved in assessing community housing and infrastructure needs, and later taught Aboriginal Studies at Goulburn TAFE.
