Bill Peach, author, broadcaster, travel entrepreneur, provides a detailed account of his family background; Convent primary education and bursary to St Stanislaus secondary boarding school followed by Teachers' College Scholarship to Sydney University; his teaching experiences; acceptance by ABC as a specialist trainee in Talks Dept. and his decision to be a broadcaster; his transfers to Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney; joining the Sydney office of the BBC as a 'salesman' for BBC programmes (1960); his decision to travel to England; position as a producer in the BBC Pacific Service; decision to leave England; being offered a position with Channel Ten in Sydney in 1965; producing and hosting Telescope, Australia's first current affairs TV program; moving to the ABC's Four Corners as a reporter; presenting This Day Tonight in 1967 and making ABC documentaries. Peach's documentary making has led to travel writing and becoming a travel entrepreneur. He then discusses his writing plans; fascination with outback Australia and his optimism for the future of Australia.
