Summary

Microfilm includes: Correspondence of Sir Joseph Banks, transcribed by Dawson Turner, relating to voyages of the Resolution, Bounty, Discovery and other ships to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. The correspondents include Daniel Solander, Lord Sandwich, James Cook, William Bligh, Matthew Flinders and George Caley.

Biography/History

Naturalist and patron of science. Dawson Turner (1775-1858) was a banker, botanist and bibliophile. While working on Joseph Banks' biography, Dawson Turner transcribed his correspondence.
