Summary

"The Holy Father regards 'The Catholic Press' of Sydney as worthy of any diocese in the world. [signed] + P Card. Gasparri [Pietro Gasparri (1852-1934)], May 29th 1929"--Handwritten in pencil on verso.

Cartoon probably refers to the 1923 film production, "The white sister", based on a novel by F. Marion Crawford. The plot is about an Italian noblewoman who took the veil when her lover was reported killed in the war, but, the report was inaccurate and the lover returned.--Reference source: film and monograph catalogue.

Notes

Condition: Fair; brown discolouration, foxing of paper, some small red crayon? marks on surface, some creasing, some tears on lower edge.
