Agnes McLehose speaks of her family history; coming out to Australia; jobs on the mines at Wallsend; strikes before Depression - coupons not money; no compensation for accidents in mining strike; jobs - wage on 5 pound a month - hours worked - time off ; husband Bill worked as train driver; coalminer's picnics; husband a fireman at Casino - driver at Lithgow; steam trains still running in the early 1960's; Hunt talking about industry in Lithgow; McLehose story about wiping clothes lines every day; union meetings; jobs at the mines; King talking about the 1917 railway strike - government change; about his brother Jock King - communism; School of Arts influence; recreation in Lithgow clubs; Hunt talking about the Workman's Club; King talks about the mining community - government / politics; leaving for Australia 1926; coming to Lithgow; working at Hoskin's steelworks; shifting the steelworks to south coast; conditions on Australian mines compared to the Scottish mines.
