Typescript of the personal narrative Thomas Vickers kept on the voyage of the "Enterprise" in 1851. The account is interspersed on spare pages within the official log. The "Recollections" are divided into three chapters. The first chapter describes Vickers' leave taking of his parents and the commencement of the voyage. Chapter 2 describes the journey along the African coast, prevailing weather conditions, marine life and the crossing of the equator. Chapter 3 brings the narrative to an abrupt end with the ship barely surviving a storm. The introduction to the "Recollections" contains biographical information on Thomas Rogers Vickers written by Kerry Vickers.

Thomas Rogers Vickers, who signed on as midshipman of the "Enterprise" in 1851, was the keeper of the log kept on the voyage of the barque "Enterprise" from London to Australia in 1851. Kerry Vickers, who prepared the "Recollections" in November 1999, is a descendant of Thomas Vickers.
