John Garnham an Australian fighter pilot in World War II, speaks of his war service; where he enlisted in the Air Force; his flying training at Temora in N.S.W.; how his interest in surfing gave him credibility in being accepted in the Air Force; the theory and training in elementary flying with the Tiger Moths; how his mate did his first solo; his advanced training at Bundaberg; his story about Charleville Charley; how he spent a further 6 months in England and on returning to Australia formed 2 squadrons; the damage they received over the next 2 years; speaks about Beau fighters; how he worked at Bankstown in testing aircraft; his flight to New Guinea resulting in his crashing his plane; his work as a flying instructor at Williamstown in N.S.W.; recalls Christmas in Darwin in 1943.
