Summary

Saliba, dancer and choreographer, discusses the NAISDA program; his early dance training; the importance of mentors and passing on of knowledge; children's TV program "Southern Stars"; role of Joanne Priest and Elizabeth Dalman in his early life; joining the Australian Ballet School; his wish to inspire students; joining Australian Ballet; coaching by Anne Woolliams and the choreographic workshops in the Australian Ballet in the 1970s. He then talks about going to New York to study with Martha Graham; breaking his pelvis; the Graham technique; influence of New York; touring with the Australian Ballet; returning to Sydney Dance Company; his choreographic process and his attitude to competition in dance and life. Saliba then discusses leaving Sydney Dance Company; experiences in Bali; challenge and struggle of teaching and developing Indigenous dance theatre and the importance of documenting dance in Australia.
