Judy recalls her early farming life and education in a very small country town school and later boarding school, school games and the freedom to explore, girls preferred to ride horse than play with dolls, entertainment including listening to the radio and dances, discusses various types of dances, how they moved to Mallacoota and set up their farm, the tractor accident, dependence on transport by boat in those days, how she met Jack and married in 1952, discusses the dances held in Mallacoota and the music and songs performed, discusses her children and grandchildren.
Jack discusses his parents marriage in England and recalls his early life in Mallacoota with fishing and shooting as recreation, move for medical reasons to a sheep and wheat property at Condobolin N.S.W., how he came to join the army, describes his return to Mallacoota and the old buildings, recalls his schooling, leaving at age 14, discusses self-sufficent farming and fishing, farming issues involving tourism and environmentalism, the problems of fires as they affect national parks and as a form of natural control, discusses the Fire of 1982, discusses aboriginal burial ground and middens around the lake.
