Professor Cheryl Praeger, academic and mathematician, talks about her family background, schooling and her great interest in mathematics; attending University of Queensland for both undergraduate and post-graduate studies then PhD at Oxford. She discusses group theory, graph theory and design theory as well as the decision making involved in choosing a topic for research. Praeger reflects on the role of women in Australian science and talks about her experiences as a member of the Prime Minister's Science and Engineering Council; Advisory Council for the Institute of Advanced Studies at ANU and as President of the Australian Mathematical Society. She also discusses her involvement with South East Asian mathematicians as well as talking about her two publications.
