Summary

Comprising the minutes of the Society (handwritten to June 1968, and thereafter typed) and a copy of the draft constitution presented to a Special General Meeting, 29/9/1970.

Biography/History The Society was formed on 10 Dec. 1953 at a public meeting at the Canberra University College (later the Australian National Univeristy) chaired by Professor H. Burton. The first president was Mr. L.F. Fitzhardinge. Other prominent academics and public figures associated with the Society have been Professor Manning Clark, Professor O.H.K. Spate, A.T Shakespeare and Dr. J.H.L. Cumpston.
