Perry was removed from his Aboriginal mother at the age of 3 months and placed in the care of his paternal grandparents. He speaks about his alienation from both the white and Indigenous communities and his experiences of racism. Perry also discusses his efforts to find his mother and his current relationship with her. He outlines the impact of separation on his mother, and discusses the links between family separation and substance abuse.
