|aAsche was born in Geelong, January 24, 1871. His career began in London, 1893 and by 1904 he and his actress wife Lily Brayton formed a company. In 1907 they leased His Majesty's Theatre and produced, directed and acted in many innovative interpretations of Shakespeare. He toured Australia successfully three times in 1909-1910, 1911-1912 and 1922-1924. He is best remembered as the author of the musical Chu Chin Chow which ran for five years between 1916 and 1921 modelled on Kismet where he played Hajj. He directed another successful musical the Maid of the Mountains. |
