Noel Willetts born in Nanango, Qld. discusses his family life; moving to Winton (1945) to work on a cattle station; working on various sheep stations; cattle drives; acquiring his own plant (1952); horse breaking and horse dealing; working as head stockman on a Vestey's property (1954); stock work; difficulties maintaining droving teams; cattle "rushes" or stampedes; difficulties droving across the deserts and black soil plains; drought years; road trains; contract work; cattle mustering; working conditions; Drovers' strike (1956); cattle industry changes; treatment of cattle by station-owners; watering stock; over-large mobs of travelling cattle, profit-driven practices; price crash (1974); his retirement; the personalities and abilities of some drovers; the last great cattle drive, the characters involved in the journey; the Stockman's Hall of Fame; droving difficulties, hardships and experiences; putting horseshoes on footsore bullocks; conclusion.
