|aA leading Australian composer, Donald Oscar Banks lived in London from 1953 to 1972. During this period his works were commissioned and premiered by major orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra. In 1973, he became the first chairman of the Australia Council Music Board. Banks was one of the most successful "third stream" composers, merging jazz with "serious" music. |
