The journal was kept by Lloyd on board the ship "Orwell". It contains various incidents on board and lists of crews, passengers and ship's company. It describes the condition of the wind. The journal also contains a list of some of the cargo taken on board. It is illustrated with a number of pencil, pen and wash drawings. There is also a sepia photograph of Charles Vincent Lloyd.
