Halina Bobinska, medical practitioner and Polish immigrant speaks of her early life in Poland but fled the country in 1939 with mother and brother, their travels through Europe including Roumania, France and Portugal until reaching London in 1940 where her father was based in the Free Polish Army, how she undertook medicine at a university in Scotland, how she met her husband, Wallace Hobart, an Australian doctor based in England, how he returned to Melbourne in mid-1950s and she joined him later in 1956, how they settled in in the western suburbs of Melbourne populated with thousands of immigrants working in the local factories and quarries, describes the Sunshine area in the 1950s and the early Polish community there, how her own family has grown up such as her son now a doctor has joined the family practice, her return visit to Poland in the 1970s, her sense of identity today.
