Anna Piotrowski, former school teacher speaks of her early life in Brussels and her parental background, how she and her mother emigrated to Australia on the Fairsea in 1950, their brief period at Bonegilla Migrant Reception Centre at Albury Wodonga and then living in various suburbs in Melbourne, her mother's various jobs including working in the textile industry, how in 1955 Anna's family moved to Melbourne's western region where land was cheap and work and overtime plentiful, thousands of Poles lived in this area, background of Anna's Polish step-father, the way of life in the western suburbs of Melbourne, particularly Sunshine, from mid-1950's to the 1960s, especially the Polish community, her sense of identity today, her visit to Poland in 1971. Her Melbourne-born daughter, Nicole, talks about her own upbringing and the ways it is and is not Polish.
