The bulk of MS 5233 relates to Fry's Federal Parliamentary career as the member (ALP) for Fraser from 1974-1984. It consists mainly of subject and correspondence files, with an emphasis on local ACT matters. Other papers relate to the ACT Branch of the ALP as well as Fry's ongoing interest and involvement in the situation in East Timor.
The Acc03.294 instalment comprises personal letters and telegrams and papers on parliamentary matters, overseas trips, East Timor, Fry's thesis on the early history of the Bathurst region, and papers relating to some of Fry's activities in retirement.

| Biography/History |
Politician. Kenneth Lionel Fry was the Labor Member of the House of Representatives representing the Division of Fraser in the Australian Capital Territory, from 1974-1984. In 1973 Fry was elected as the first president of the ACT Branch of the Australian Labor Party and in 1974 he was elected as the first member for Fraser. From 1975, he became a leading parliamentary supporter of independence for East Timor. Fry retired in 1984.
