Copping talks about his involvement in children's literature; teaching experiences and appointment to Hall School in ACT in 1960. He then talks about meeting Lu Rees; development of the Book Council in Canberra; exhibitions during Children's Book Week; judging procedures for Children's Book Council awards and his views on Australian children's books. Copping then describes the establishment of the archive of the Children's Book Council of Australia and the type of material collected. He then discusses the importance of the journal, "Reading time"; his vision for the archive; procedures involved in judging information books; housing of Lu Rees Archive at University of Canberra; relation between Children's Book Council and children's publishers group. Copping then gives his views on the future of Australian book publishing; changes seen in role of books in the lives of Australian children; school museum at Hall school and his views on the role of newspapers in informing community about children's literature.
