| Summary |
Dr Percy Jones, a folklorist, talks about the origins of his interest in Australian folk songs; involvement in "Songs of yesteryear", a column published in the "Sun" during the 1950s by Jerry Waite. He then describes his method of collecting and recording folk songs such as "The springtime brings on the shearing" and "Click go the shears". He then talks about Burl Ives' visit to Australia in the 1950s and the effect that his recording of Australian folk songs had on general attitudes to this material. Jones then describes the fires at Aireys Inlet, Vic. which destroyed all his personal papers.
