Summary

Giurgola, architect of Parliament House, gives his views on Greek architecture; influence of particular Italian writers and his reasons for choosing architecture. He then talks about travelling to America on a scholarship to study architecture in 1950; his views on Walter Burley Griffin and his reactions to America and Americans. Giurgola then describes his experiences in Columbia as Chairman of the School of Architecture and provides background to his decision to enter the competition to design the new Parliament House. He then talks about his experiences in Australia implementing his plan and the reactions of Australians to the finished building.
