Robert 'Duke' Bonnett speaks on his childhood and first jobs; service in the army during World War II and with the National Service Training Battalion in Tasmania in the 1950s; early involvement in politics and work for the Liberal Party in North Queensland; election to the seat of Herbert; his various election campaigns; experiences as a backbencher in the Holt and Gorton governments and as Shadow Minister for Compensation, Housing and Repatriation; his efforts investigating the problems of the Defence Forces Retirement Benefits fund; involvement in various parliamentary committees; visit to the U.S.S.R. and activities since retirement.
