Summary

A letter to Helen Heney from John Ramsden Lyall dated 1972 and a history of the Gullett family by Lyall entitled Great Grandfather Gullett - and all: a search for a family (Further search in progress.) (1968). A small number of press cuttings concerning the Heney family dating from 1928. Added 30.6.1981 The Shadow Tree, book and Womens Weekly supplement The Shadow Tree, by L. A. B. Heney, Helen's sister.

Biography/History

Helen Heney is a daughter of T. W. Heney (1862-1928) a prominent Sydney journalist. He was editor of the Sydney Morning Herald 1904-1918. Her mother was a daughter of Henry Gullett MLC (1837-1914) also associated with the SMH as Associate Editor 1890-1899. Helen Heney is the author of the novels. The Chinese Camelia (1950) The Proud Lady (1951) Dark Moon (1953) and In a dark glass: The story of Paul Edward Strzelecki (1961).
