Jeffrey Joynton-Smith talks about his life and especially about his work as the General Manager of the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust (AETT). He speaks about early influences of his father's entrepreneurial activities; early theatre-going experiences; undertaking a drama course run by Doris Fitton at the Independent Theatre; further studies at Oxford in English and Arts; performing in repertory theatre companies in England; studying accountancy; working in New Guinea; the Goroka Players; working with Coopers and Lybrand; thoughts on Doris Fitton; application process of becoming general manager of the AETT; AETT board; role as general manager of AETT; formation of the AETT; releasing the Australian Opera and Australian Ballet from the auspices of the AETT; various theatrical productions produced by the AETT including Pyjama Tops and Fedeau; financial issues associated with touring shows.
