Summary

Rafty talks about his Greek background; drawing ability; work with the "Bulletin"; socialising with cartoonists such as Jim Russell, Eric Joliffe, George Aria and Syd Miller and actor Chips Rafferty during 1930s; working with the "Referee" newspaper until its demise and the "Sun" doing two comic strips, "Mugs the golfer" and "Dick Tarrent, Boxing hero". He was the first Australian to produce a comic book, "Jimmy Rodney on Secret Service". Rafty also talks about his war work and being involved in the publications "Khaki and Green", "RAAF saga" and "As you were" before being sent as a war artist to New Guinea for about 5 months. He also did a page of humorous war gags for the "World News". Rafty then took up doing caricatures for "Sunday Sun" and "Sydney Sun." Rafty discusses his work on Olympians and golfers which he began in 1948; his commission to produce a series of stamps for Australia Post and his charity work.
