Theologian and evangelist. The Rev. Dr Sir Alan Walker was Superintendent of the Methodist Wesley Mission in Sydney, 1958-1978, and first world director of evangelism for the World Methodist Council, 1978 to 1988. In March 1963 Walker established the telephone counselling service Life Line. He was Principal of the Pacific College of Evangelism, now the Alan Walker College of Evangelism in Sydney, 1982-1995. Walker was also a social justice progressive, leading crusades against the Cold War, Vietnam War, "White Australia" policy and apartheid in South Africa.
