From his schooldays in Tasmania in the 50s, Tim Bowden wanted to become a journalist. Cutting his journalist teeth as a cadet reporter on the Hobart Mercury, he went on to a distinguished career as a current affairs reporter, foreign correspondence and producer of radio and TV documentaries for the ABC.
