Summary

Ardell speaks of her family background, early artistic influences such as Brisbane dance teacher Nell Johnson, working in Brisbane with the Indian dancer Sivaram, the Bodenwieser Ballet touring to Brisbane, taking classes with Bodenwieser in Sydney, becoming an assistant teacher at the Bodenwieser School, joining the Bodenwieser Ballet, Bodenwieser country tours, the Bodenwieser repertoire for touring, learning and performing ballet dancing, joining the Katherine Dunham Company, working on early Australian television shows, the composer Camille Gheysens, Bodenwieser's choreographic process, Bodenwieser's life in Australia, starting a dance school, teaching at St. Mary's at the Cuckson recreational centre, the Cuckson family as patrons of the arts, Israeli Dance; Bodenwieser's death, working in London and Europe including film, drama and television, meeting Josephine Baker, meeting and working with her future husband, difficulties in getting a visa.

Ardell speaks of the Bodenwieser legacy in her life, dance classes for actors, special roles in her career, the reception of Bodenwieser in Sydney, Bodenwieser's non-dance activities, Emmy Tausig, the Bodenwieser teaching syllabus.
