Summary

Hill speaks of her family background in writing, her grandfather having been a journalist; development as a freelance writer in the 1960's for organisations such as the ABC and others; first book being published in 1969 in England as very little was published in Australia then; joining the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) and taking on the position of its Secretary; her involvement in the Public Lending Rights Campaign of the 1970's and it's prominent campaigners; the ASA role in processing the first cheques in 1974; work with the Chairman of ASA setting up the Copyright Agency; work on Education Lending Rights in the late 1970's; the literary seminars run by the ASA, a precursor to today's literary lunches.
