Patrick Leslie (1815-1881) emigrated to Australia in 1835 followed by his brothers George Farquhar Leslie (1820-1860) and Walter Leslie in 1839. In 1840 the Leslie brothers became the first settlers on the Darling Downs, establishing a sheep station at Canning Downs. George Leslie married Emmeline Macarthur in 1847. They settled in England in 1855.
Emmeline Macarthur (1828-1911) was the fifth daughter of Hannibal Macarthur (1788-1861) and Anna Maria Macarthur (1793-1852), daughter of Capt. Philip Gidley King, Governor of N.S.W. Emmeline's sister Catherine married Patrick Leslie in 1840. In 1865 Emmeline married Capt. Vigant de Falbe and they had two sons, Vigant and Christian.
