Towers, a former international rugby union footballer, recalls his introduction to Australian Rules football in the 1920s during his early years in Victoria; his football achievements whilst a student at Waverly College, Sydney; his first job with the Government Savings Bank , Examiners Office which kept him in contact with the Rural Bank employees; his first year with the Rural Bank playing Kentwell Cup (ie rugby union football) with Coogee; joining Randwick Rugby Union Club in 1925; selection for the Waratahs (N.S.W. rugby union) tour to the United Kingdom & France in 1927-1928; the effects of the Depression on sport; football competition in the United Kingdom during the early 20th century; the New Zealand All Blacks tour; the British Lions tour to Australia 1930; the South African Springboks tour; 1937 South African tour of Australia; prominate players and officials of the early 20th century.
